1. "I want to go home."
It could be the greatest party ever or the best sleepover ever, but an introvert will always want to go home. Always. It's not the company, it's just his personality. Don't be offended.
2. "I'm just listening to be nice."
"In my mind, this conversation is over and I'm at home alone eating ice cream in my pajamas." Again, don't take offense. The President could be talking to them, and they would still rather not be talking to him.
3. "I'd rather be sleeping."
Not necessarily because they're tired, just because they'd must rather be alone in bed, dreaming of not ever having to talk to people again.
4. "I'm scared of huge crowds."
Seriously, they terrify me. I get a
little bit nervous and hyperventilated. When I'm in a crowd, I can literally think of a hundred things I'd rather be doing.
5. "Leave me alone please."
Not in a nasty, stop-bugging-me-or-I'll-kill-you sort of way, but in a I-need-some-alone-time-to-recharge sort of way. Introverts need some time each day alone to...
refresh,
rejuvenate,
regenerate,
renew,
restore,
revive, and
re-energize
...before having to socialize again. If you want an introvert to like you, let them have their alone time.
6. "I'm not saying anything because I'm thinking."
Quiet people have the loudest minds. A quiet mouth is usually the sign of a thinking mind. Introverts think
too much sometimes. They think of every possible scenario before it happens. They think of what they'll say if a stranger says hello. They think of what they'll say if they have to confront someone or ask them a question. It's scary, and they think of every possible scenario.
7. "The reason I'm so quiet is because I don't feel comfortable around you."
The funny thing about introverts is once they feel comfortable with you, they can be the funniest, most enjoyable people to be around. It's like a secret they feel comfortable sharing with you. Except, the secret is their personality.
8. "I'm not antisocial."
"I'm not mad or depressed. I just need to not talk to anyone for a while and that's okay. Don't get mad at me for being quiet. I'm doing it for your own good."
And finally, some introvert humor...
